1Life has grown for the last 20 years from being a leisure operator into a forward thinking lifestyle and management solutions organisation.

Today managing over 45 venues nationwide, we partner with 16 different Local Authority clients, support 3 charitable trusts, control 3 private finance initiatives and employ around 2,500 people.

We’re the only company to hold the full range of quality standards, including ISO14001, OHSAS18001 and ISO9001, CHAS, RoSPA certification, Quest Excellence and ukactive approval (see our Awards & Honours page).

Our energy management solution which reduces emissions by 33% has been recognised by both Carbon Trust certification and ukactive’s Go Green flame award. And our national pool safety strategy and lifeguard academy won the award for Approved Training Centre by the Royal Life Saving Society.

Whilst all these independent accolades demonstrate our commitment to operational excellence, the landscape of the leisure industry is changing and to help our clients achieve local outcomes and deliver results at a local level, we’re changing too.

1Life is creating tailored solutions as part of our collaborative and thoughtful approach to finding new ways to help our clients and increase participation.

We’ve found in every community we work there is different set of characteristics and behaviours in relation to health and activity. Which is why to bring about positive change 1life has focused on creative activity programming and as a result we’re delivering some great new local services.

For example for health and wellbeing, we take a multi-agency approach to achieve local strategic outcomes. We use evidence and identified need as well as ensuring there is prevention, care, social and learning elements in every programme we develop.

In the area of physical activity, 1Life delivers local sport and activity programmes through collaboration with clubs, local volunteers or partnering with National Governing Bodies. This offers customers multiple pathways in grass roots or talent programmes. Similarly for arts and culture, we’ve chosen to incorporate national frameworks from the Arts Council, and focus on education and mental health and wellbeing. In addition, we deliver commercial theatre offerings, youth theatre classes, visual arts, dance and music.

Thereby, with new values of vitality, inclusion, learning and wellbeing, we are working hard to ensure our solutions continue to be relevant for the community’s, customers and clients we serve.
