Adults and Seniors

Downham Health & Leisure Centre have a wide range of adults activities. All of the activities available at the centre are listed below, whether they are ran directly by 1life or part funded, in partnership with another provider or one of our clubs. How to book is detailed, and whether you can have a free taster. All sessions are inclusive for all abilities, if you need further support please let the coach know or email us beforehand. 55+ Active Social

Sessions for older people to try out activities including Short Mat Bowls, Short Tennis, Badminton, Gym, walking football and Boccia. Two activities are selected each week with a tea break in-between. Great session to meet new people, get fitter and enjoy learning new sports.

Line Dancing

Well established line dancing group, with beginners then a club and a tea break in-between. Enjoy line dancing with friends.

Tuesdays 10.40am-11.40 11.40-1.40pm

Sessions cost £2.50

Trampolining

1life runs weekly trampolining sessions for 3 year olds to adult with our popular coach Joy. The sessions are 1 hour long and they are tailored to you. The sessions follow the British Gymnastic Trampoline Awards from 1-12, through which you can learn skills at your own pace. Learn everything from seat drops to summersaults, or come along to increase your fitness.

Thursdays 8.30pm-9.30pm 16+ adult

Sessions must be booked in advance, as a course. Courses run from the beginning of one term to (and including) the holiday in that term.

The session cost is £5.50 per week.

Saxon Crown Swimming Club

Saxon Crown Swimming (Lewisham) Club was established in 1975, as a result of a merger of three clubs in the area, to promote and support swimming as a sport in the London Borough of Lewisham. Past and present club members have progressed from learning to swim within the club to national, regional and county champions and competitors. The club while maintaining a competitive nature believes in providing a wide programme to cater for all abilities and commitment levels. Saxon Crown are very proud to have dedicated learn to swim and competitive opportunities for disabled swimmers that are fully integrated within the club structure as well as adult squads for technique development, fitness and competitive opportunities.

Seals

Seals are a social swimming club providing sessions for people with a disability. Outings are also arranged with the group. For the Friday session, transport is provided. Floatation aids and social games are available and if there are participants that don’t want to swim there are arts and crafts and games activities. Tea and biscuits are also offered at the end of the Friday session.

Nomad Taekwondo

Olympic Style WTF Taekwondo
A relatively new club with just over five years’ history, Nomad Taekwondo now boasts an active student base of over 150 students. The club aims to provide you with the very best in Taekwondo coaching to achieve maximum results. 

Nomad Taekwondo’s aims are high and will always give you the very best. Its discipline and instruction is of high quality. You will be helped along the way, guided, nurtured and encouraged until you achieve your goals.

The format of the class changes on a week to week basis, covering all aspects of the required national syllabus, from traditional forms, sporting aspects of Taekwondo, self-defence and technical training.
