Rise to the top with 1Life’s apprenticeship programme

Next week is National Apprenticeship Week (14-18 March) designed to celebrate apprenticeships and the positive impact they have on individuals, businesses and the wider economy.

1Life, the company that operates the leisure centres across the UK, is committed to providing opportunities for young people through its apprenticeship scheme.  There are currently 20 full time apprentices within the 1Life business and a further 120 learners who are working through industry qualifications that will lead them to a career in leisure.

Apprentices provide 1Life and many other employers in the UK with a valuable resource for future employees who have been trained in the way of the business and understand the roles that they have been training for.  In the leisure industry it is particularly important for employees to be multi-skilled for example, lifeguards who can teach swimming lessons or work on the gym floor.  The apprenticeship programme ensures that all apprentices get a good grounding in all key areas of a business, allowing them to make more sensible decisions about where their future lies.

Graham Sharpe, Head of People at 1Life said, “There has never been a better time to employ an apprentice or a trainee. Hiring apprentices helps us to grow our own talent by developing a motivated, skilled and qualified workforce who work in the 1Life way.  We would actively encourage anyone who is considering a career in leisure to get in touch with us and discuss our apprenticeship and learning programmes.”
