Building work on the new £18.8 million leisure and cultural centres in Harpenden is due to start later this month, which will improve and enhance the current offering in the heart of Harpenden.

The first phase of construction work will take place from Monday 29th April and will include the closure of the swimming pools for a period of four weeks.

This closure is required to allow the contractor to separate the section of the building between the existing learner pool and the main pool and changing facilities. A temporary entrance will then be constructed on the main pool side of the wall.  This will enable the main pool to remain operational while the new build extension is constructed.

The main pool will then reopen on Monday 27th May and remain so until May 2020. The learner pool will remain closed throughout the rest of the construction period. We have managed to relocate most of the learner pool programme into the main pool programme. Please see more information below.

Please see the St. Albans District Council website for the latest news and information.

The entrance to the pool will also change, with our reception area moving to the corridor by the poolside entrance.  This temporary reception will be smaller than the current offer and we apologise for any inconvenience this will cause.  There will be signage directing you to the new entrance & reception area.

There will be an area on poolside where you can watch your children. Due to space and safety, this seating area will be limited.
